Dubai Launches Unified Health Screening Service to Streamline Residency Visa Process

Dubai

Dubai has introduced a major enhancement to its residency visa system with the launch of a new Unified Health Screening service, designed to simplify and accelerate mandatory medical fitness procedures for residents and professionals.

Led by Dubai Health, the initiative integrates residency visa medical tests and occupational health screenings into a single, fully digital process. The move is part of Dubai’s broader strategy to enhance government efficiency, improve service delivery, and strengthen inter-agency collaboration.

One Visit. One Process. Faster Approvals.

Under the new system, applicants can complete all required medical fitness examinations in a single visit to an approved medical fitness centre. A smart digital platform automatically determines the required tests based on the applicant’s profession.

Once medical results are finalized and approved, residency permits are issued automatically through system integration with the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA Dubai), significantly reducing processing time and eliminating duplication.

The streamlined process removes the need for multiple appointments or separate occupational health applications, delivering a more seamless customer experience for both individuals and corporate employers managing workforce visas.

Strengthening Government Integration

The Unified Health Screening service operates under Dubai’s City Makers’ Initiative, a government integration program launched in 2014 by Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.

The initiative connects digital systems across key government entities, including:

  • Dubai Municipality

By linking databases and enabling real-time information exchange, the service enhances accuracy, strengthens regulatory oversight, and supports preventive public health planning.

Supporting Dubai’s Business Ecosystem

For businesses, the reform offers tangible benefits:

  • Reduced administrative burden in managing employee visas
  • Faster onboarding of new hires
  • Improved compliance with health and regulatory standards
  • Greater predictability in processing timelines

The initiative aligns with Dubai’s ongoing efforts to enhance its global competitiveness and deliver smart, integrated government services that support economic growth.

Availability and Expansion

The Unified Health Screening service is currently available at Dubai Health medical fitness centres across the emirate, with plans for expanded capacity in line with rising demand.
